How to programme RT29 in software?
RT29 has high power, so the call distance is long. RT29 has two frequency bands: UHF or VHF to choose from. At the same time, RT29 has a big battery capacity, so it can standby long time. And the waterproof function cannot be ignored. Thus many people choose RT29. At the same time, there are many people who have questions about the programming frequency of RT29.
So how do we programme frequency for such an excellent RT29? For analog radio communication, just set all communication channel with same frequency and CTCSS/DCS is ok. You need programme inside software.
Here are the steps to programme RT29:
- You need install USB driver and software: https://www.retevis.com/RT29-Long-Range-Handheld-Transceiver/# You can find it under the support page, and please make sure to install the driver before installing the software.
- You need a programming cabel(J9131P): https://www.retevis.com/usb-programming-cable-for-ailunce-hd1-dmr-radio/
- Connect your computer and the radio with the programming cable, and make sure all connections are tight, in good connecting status
- Open the software and your radio, click “setting”, “set com”, choose the correct port. You can find the port you need to select from the device manager.
- Click “Read”, the radio’s information will be read.
- You can set the channel information. Click “more”, you can set more channel information.
- Click “Edit”, you can make more function settings and key settings.
- Write to the radio. Then all dates will be saved to radio. If you have other questions, please contact us: partner@retevis.com .

I found on my radio’s antenna where it says uhf. I had earlier asked how to tell whether my radio was uhf or vhf. Now, obviously I know. However, I am new into the world of program radios, so I will watch this sites threads for more info. I run Windows 10.
Hi, any possibility of releasing a version 2 programming software for the RT29.
One in which the drop down scramble code has OFF.
At the moment if you select scramble you can choose between 1 to 8 in the drop down box so if you switch on scramble it will scramble all channels because there is no option to choose OFF in the dropdown box.
Yes, you can put a different scramble code against each channel but you can’t have some channels scrambled and some not like on the RT27 because there is no choice of OFF
Thank you.
Hi, I have a problem with the RT29. When i open the software and read the radio the light on the radio flashes but the chart where the frequencies should be stays empty.
Maybe some1 can help me
it has some problem when you program your radio, so please check if the cable is tight or not for two connectors, then have a try please!
Hello, when I try to write a file into my RT29 VHF (edited file or not, no matter), the software warns, “Frequency band is different, Overwrite?” But I had not changed anything in frequencies. If I ignore this message and click “Yes”, all the channel data disappears from the programme, and the channel table remains empty. It is happening even if I write back into the radio the same data that I read from it seconds ago.
Hello, can you email your codeplug and your order number to support@retevis.com? We will back to you asap.
Why wont my radio transmit is wide band? I have wide band selected in the programming menu but it still will not transmit in wideband, only narrow.
Hallo,
