So, how to apply for your GMRS license?
- Before applying for the license, you have to apply for an FCC Registration Number for free. The link is https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/universal-licensing-system
- Enter the page, and choose ‘NewUser Registration’, and ‘Register’.
- Then, you can choose ‘An individual’ and ‘yes’ to continue.
- Fill in your basic information, including your name, SSN, address, and set a password and security Q&A. And summit your file.
- Please remember to write down your FRN Number and your password. It is important to register your GMRS license.
- And next step is to apply for your license and pay for it.
- Please back to the first page Universal Licensing System
- Click ‘File Online’ and fill in your FRN and password.
- After logging in, choose ‘Apply for a New License’, choose ‘ZA-General Mobile Radio(GMRS)’, and continue to the next.
- On the ‘Application Questions’ page, choose NO for all questions, and continue.
- You have to fill in your individual name, attention to the name, street address, city, state, zip code, phone number, and email on the page.
- I don’t think you’ve committed a crime either, so choose ‘No’, and continue.
- On the ‘Summary’ page, please check your information, confirm again and continue to certify.
- Fill in your last name and first name on the certification page, and click ‘Submit Application’.
- You will find your file number and information, double-check and continue for payment options.
- Have you had your FTN and password now? Fill it on the ‘electronic form 159’ page, and log in.
- Select a payment method from ‘Pay from Bank Account’, ‘Pay by Credit or Debit Card’, ‘Pay By Wire Transfer’, and ‘Pay By Check/Money Order’. Then, according to the process to pay for it.
- And finally, you will receive the successful register email from FCC after a few days.
- You can use your FRN and password to log in to your account on FCC License Manager.
- You can find your Call Sign, and click ‘Now’ enter the ‘Download Authorizations’ page.
- Then, click the ‘Filter by Radio Service’ and add it to ‘Authorizations to Download’, and you can download your license now.
