Would you choose a USB driver for your radios?

When do we need to download and install the USB driver? When you use a programming cable to connect a radio to a computer to program, and you find that the data is blocked by the computer, then you need to install a driver to set up a channel for the data. Most walkie-talkies use the same drivers, but a few require special drivers. And depending on your computer system and programming cable, it is better to adopt different drivers. Sound difficult? Where to download the USB driver?

For example, if you have an NR10 noise-reduction radio. And you would like to program it on your computer. You can search for the radio model on our website.

Then, you can follow the step to download the driver and software.

Please note, the file format is ZIP, so please unzip it and install the driver and software first. The windows will disappear when you double-click the driver to install it. Do not worry about it. You have installed it on your computer. Now, you can check your serial port on the device manager list.

You will find a new serial port on the list. And from the name of your serial port, you can check the chip of the programming cable.

If you have a C9018A programming cable. There are 3 editions of it. And they have different serial port names.

Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port. It is the previous programming cable, and the chip is PL2303. You can use this programming cable on your Win10 computer. If you want to use it on a Win11 computer, please do not update your computer.

USB-SERIAL CH340. It has a CH340 chip.

Prolific PL2303G USB Serial COM Port. This is the latest programming cable, and it can work well on Win11 computers. And now, if you order this C9018A programming cable on our website, you will receive this new cable.

And another programming cable has changed recently. It is J9137P. If you have RT87, RT83, RT47 or RT647, and RT47V radio, it is better to follow the step to check your programming cable and know how to solve the programming issue.

The previous programming cable is the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port, then, you can use the same general USB driver as C9018A.

After the first change, the serial port name is USB-SERIAL CH340.

If you connect the RT87 via the new programming cable J9137P, you should use new software to be compatible with it. You can leave your needs in the comment and we will send the software to you.

And RT83, RT47/RT647, and RT47V cannot work with this cable.
