If you are self-employed, are you being tortured by the chatter of FRS radio? Or are incurring exorbitant fees for commercial bands. GMRS Handheld Radio helps you solve all this.

What is GMRS?
In layman’s terms, GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) is a licensed radio service, which primarily uses channels, located between 462 MHz and 467 MHz. The use of these channels is to cover short-distance, and two-way communications with the help of hand-held radios, also known as repeater systems and mobile radios.
FCC Regulations Updated March 30, 2021
At one time GMRS licenses were issued to businesses, but this is no longer the case. Here is a note from the FCC’s GMRS license application form (form 605):
Note: For GMRS: effective January 1, 1989, new or major modification applications may NOT be filed by non-individual (business) applicants/licensees. (See Rule 1.929(c) (4) & 95.5(b).
For GMRS radios to be legally used by businesses, each person using the radios would need an individual GMRS license. Requires a $35 FCC License – (License is good for 10 years and covers the whole family.). A business could use the radios on FRS channels 1-7 and 15-22 without a license at up to two watts, but when using FRS channels 8-14 the radio cannot transmit at more than a half watt of power. This is generally only good for a quarter to a half mile of outdoor range on those specific channels.
Pros Of GMRS
- Higher power allowed (channels 15-22) – 50 watts vs. CB’s 4 watts
- Able to use privacy tones or codes to mute squelch.
- Wide-band FM modulation means clearer audio and less static.
- Better range than CB under most circumstances – Up to 30 miles.
- Able to use repeaters for even more coverage.
- Shorter, more powerful antenna than what CBs use.
- Channels are typically less crowded.
- Not affected by solar cycle.
- Compatible with affordable handheld GMRS and FRS radios – (these work much better than large CB handhelds)
- Can communicate with license-free FRS radios, which are widely available.
- GMRS becoming widely adopted in the off-road recreational community.
Now is the perfect time for a self-employed GMRS Handheld Radio
