Many customers buy walkie-talkies but don’t know how to communicate with other models of radios. This article explains the communication requirements between different models.
1. How do analog radios talk to each other?
(1) Analog radios can communicate with analog radios and digital radios in analog mode.
(2) The frequency and sub-audio frequency must be consistent, that is, A CTCSS = B CTCSS.
Please note that FRS (PMR446)radio with the same number of channels can talke each other. However, if one FRS radio is 16 channels and the other is 22 channels, they can communicate with each other on the first five channels.
2. How do digital radios talk to each other?
In addition to the frequency correspondence, digital radio in digital mode also needs to ensure the following points.
(1) The slots and color codes are consistent.
(2) If it is a single call, the contact of the transmitter should be the ID of the receiver.
(3) If it is a group call, the contact of the transmitter should select the common group call contact, the receiving group list of the receiver should have this group, and the corresponding receiving group list should be selected in the channel.
(4) If it is encrypted, the encryption must be compatible.
3. How to communicate between radios through repeaters?
If it is through an analog repeater:
(1) Don’y set encryption between walkie-talkies.
(2) A TX= repeater RX=B TX.
(3) A RX= repeater TX=B RX.
(4) A CTCSS DEC=repeater CTCSS ENC=B CTCSS DEC.
(5) A CTCSS ENC=repeater CTCSS DEC=B CTCSS ENC.
(6) The repeater and the radio have the same bandwidth.
4.Requirements for digital repeater: (Take RT97P as an example).
(1) The radios are in digital mode.
(2) A TX= repeater RX=B TX.
(3) A RX= repeater TX=B RX.
(4) Color code setting reference frequency setting.
(5) slots of radios are the same.
(6) The time slots of radio machines A and B must be set to the same.
(5) If it is encrypted, the encryption of radios must be compatible in order to communicate.
