RT49P Waterproof walkie-talkies with the IP67 grade. We all know that waterproof is a very useful function of the walkie-talkie for most people and most outdoor activities. But you may not know how waterproof and not understand what the IP67 standard means. This creates confusion for us and makes it difficult to choose the products we really need. Then I’m going to explain these questions.
What are the advantages of waterproofing?
The weather is unpredictable, and even weather forecasts are not always reliable. We must all have experienced a sunny day and suddenly it rains. At this point, it becomes difficult to contact others. However, RT49P is not afraid of getting wet in the rain. Its waterproof function is very useful on rainy days.
Fishing and boating are very common and popular activities. When you do these activities for relaxation, do you keep an eye out for your belongings not to fall into the water? Hold a waterproof walkie-talkie, you can with all your heart enjoy the outdoors. RT49P can fall into the water for a short time without any damage, and it is easy to pick up because it floats on the water.
What is the IP67 standard?
The full name of IP is Ingress Protection Rating. It classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. The word waterproof is vague and we are still confused about the level of waterproof. The level of water resistance of the item is clearly and in detail listed by this standard.
First Digit: Solids
The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts and the ingress of solid foreign objects:
IP Rating | Description |
IP “0” | No protection |
IP “1” | Protected against solid objects up to 50mm (e.g. accidental touch by hands) |
IP “2” | Protected against solid objects up to 12mm (e.g. fingers) |
IP “3” | Protected against solid objects over 2.5mm (tools and wires) |
IP “4” | Protected against solid objects over 1mm (tools, wires, and small wires) |
IP “5” | Protected against dust – limited ingress (no harmful deposit) |
IP “6” | Totally protected against dust |
Second Digit: Liquids
The second digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against harmful ingress of water:
IP Rating | Description |
IP “0” | No protection |
IP “1” | Protected against vertically falling drops of water (e.g. condensation) |
IP “2” | Protected against direct sprays of water up to 15° from the vertical. |
IP “3” | Protected against spray to 60° from the vertical |
IP “4” | Protected against water sprayed from all directions (limited ingress permitted) |
IP “5” | Protected against low-pressure jets of water from all directions (limited ingress permitted) |
IP “6” | Protected against strong jets of water e.g. for use on ship-decks (limited ingress permitted) |
IP “8” | Protected against long periods of immersion under pressure |
From this article, you may be able to understand the level of waterproofing. Obviously, the waterproof grade of RT49P is IP67. That means it not only totally protected against dust but also protected against long periods of immersion under pressure. Under normal conditions, it can be submerged in a meter of water for half an hour and still work properly. Thus RT49P are the real waterproof walkie-talkies and they have outstanding performance.
