The reasons why we love GMRS radios in Off-roading

GMRS radio is easy to apply for the license; they are high power and can connect to a repeater for further range. And off-roading activities are often in rare people places like mountains and fields, and they have some vehicles together. So, they need handy radios, mobile radios, or even a repeater to communicate with each other.

darren_ledford is a Jeep owner and an off-roading enthusiast. He also owns a Retevis RB17P GMRS radio and used it in his new Jeep. And we are glad he can mention us on his post’ Thatโ€™s correct itโ€™s in the Jeep ๐Ÿ˜Ž. I have the RB17P GMRS handhelds, would love to add a repeater or maybe a similar setup for longer range. We go to some places where service is non existent up in the mountains. Love the radios, they work well on the trails. Thanks! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿค˜

Mobile GMRS radios in off-roading

If you prefer to install a mobile radio on your Jeep. The RB86 GMRS radio is good for you. And we’ve had a live stream to describe and operate it. You can find the video on our Facebook page.

The RB86 is a 20W GMRS car radio, and 4 kinds of antennas can be used on your vehicle. If you do not want to drill your car, you can choose an antenna with a magnetic base and put your radio in the free grid on your center stack. The functional mic can also help you operate the radio, you can press the number buttons to choose the call channels.

So, if you are an off-roading enthusiast, you cannot leave a radio, even if you are not a GMRS operator. You can also use other radios, like simple ham radios, if you need more functions or contacts.

Finally, I’ve heard some off-roading teams are averse to other brands of walkie-talkies. But is it really the case? What kind of walkie-talkie is your convoy using? And is the use of GMRS radios in Off-roading normal?
