RT73 is a DMR mobile radio and because of the good performance, many hams installed RT73 in their cars. However, if you meet the issues with the power on or the update, this is the way to help you repair it by yourself.
There are 2 general errors to make the startup fail,
- Firmware update error.
- Power supply.
If you are willing to update the firmware, please make sure you have enough time and power to update the radio. If there is an interruption or power failure during the firmware upgrade, your RT73 will not boot properly. It’s like unplugging your computer system during a reboot. At this time, you can still enter the update mode, and update your firmware again.
Here is the correct way to update the firmware,
- You can download the firmware on our website.
- After unzipping the package, you can install the setup application on your computer.
- Press the [P1] button to turn on the radio, then, you can enter the DRU mode.
- Connect the programming cable to your computer, and open the firmware upgrade software. Switch to your serial port first, and click ‘Open APP file’ to upload the bin file.
- Click IAP to start upgrading. And the radio will turn off automatically. Then, you can turn on it again.
- And finally, you can check the version on your radio. Enter the menu list, find device info, and choose the version. You will find the latest version on your RT73 mobile radio.
However, if you cannot turn on the radio, please check the power supply. The standard input voltage is 13.8V, so, please check the connector or your power supply if you cannot turn on the radio.
If you need other reviews of RT73 mobile radio. Please check these 3 parts.
That is the way to solve the RT73 mobile radio startup failure issue and the way to update the firmware. If you have other questions about RT73 mobile radio, please feel free to contact us in the comment section and Facebook page.
