where do you operate analog radio? RT5/H777

Analog Radio is usually inexpensive ,which could satisfy most people's daily requirements. Today let's talk about analogy intercom radio Analog two-way radios have been used for business applications as far back as 1933, and they were originally placed into service by the U.S. military 20 years before then. Today, two-way radio technology is so widespread, it has become nearly as common as a household appliance. This time-saving communications tool has now become a favorite choice for commercial, industrial, military, and even personal use.

Let’s hear from Russ. Wilson , who operated RETEVIS RT5 and H777 radios as fly fishermen.

RETEVIS RADIOS.
I have been an Amateur Radio Operator since 1947 so have seen many changes in radios, both HF, VHF and UHF. My ideal radio for my personal use would be a dual band VHF/UHF hand-held with a removable antenna, lots of programmable channels, compact, rugged and a long life lithium battery. The radio must be able to be programmed easily, manually or via a laptop with suitable program cable and a suitable program.
My personal use of the Retevis RT5 involves the frequencies allowed by the government. I program my RT5 for the local duplex repeaters, both on VHF and UHF. The Retevis RT5 has performed flawlessly. I therefore considered it for communications within my second hobby. I also program my unit with the FRS/GMRS frequencies allowed for North America. (22 channels.)
My second hobby is fly fishing. I am a member of a small group of fly fishermen. We fish small lakes in the winderness. Communication is an utmost necessity.
Retevis RT5’s and H777 were obtained for the use of the members. Each radio was programmed identically for the FRS/GMRS frequencies allowed in North America. No member of the fishing group has an Amateur Radio Licence.
The group splits up into twos, two persons go to a selected lake, sometimes miles apart. The radios are checked prior to departure. Communication between the participants has been excellent with no dead spots whatsoever. A particular channel is assigned so that there is always communication between each group of two. In case of an emergency, such as someone having a heart attack or an accident a channel is available so that contact can be made to the main camp and the satellite phone used there to contact a doctor or helicopter. Fortunately, we have not had to use this emergency operation at this time.
A big advantage for fly fishermen is a case where the fishing is poor at one lake, communication is established so the guys can move to a more productive lake without having to hike back to the main camp.
The Retevis radios have all performed remarkably well and are highly recommended by all the fly fishing members.
The second use of three Retevis RT5’s is by two of the fishing group members. Their father owns a large ranch, housing cattle and requiring stout fencing. Large animals such as moose often break down the fence and thus repairs have to be made. Each son carries an RT5 and the third one is at the ranch house set to the same frequency as the other two. Communication between the father and two sons has been perfect to say the least. Two vehicles are also set up with magnetic mount antennas so that the radios can be used while travelling over the large farm.
I highly recommend to anyone considering purchasing a VHF/UHF radio or just a UHF radio, they check on the Retevis Home Page at www.retevis.com and select from the many radios listed there complete with their specifications. You cannot go wrong in selecting a Retevis Radio.

  1. I personally think that the Walkie Talkie is a great little device to have some fun with and can often come in good practical use as well — for camping trips, construction work, commercial uses etc. and it isn’t like that they are too expensive either, there are even businesses tha rent walkie talkies out to you too. As well as you can see from the list of pros and cons of Walkie Talkies above , the downsides of them aren’t really too drastic — you may simply have to be cautious as to what exactly is said over the Walkie Talkies as someone could potentially be listening in.
