Factors that influence the two way radio’s talking distance

Retevis two way radios have a wide range for you to choose. We have license free radio (FRS , PMR), UHF/VHF  ham radios, digital radios and so on.  Some clients say that the talking distance is limited, today we introduce you the factors that influence influence the two way radio’s talking distance.

1,Transmitting power of the radio
2,The length of the radio’s antenna
3,Electricity of the radio
4, Frequency of use of the radio
5, If the antenna match the radios or not
6, Using environment
7,  Antenna gain
8, Squelch level
9, Topography
10,  Signal interference

2. The principle that affects the two way radio’s talking distance :

Set radio A and B at the same frequency, transmit in the same environment, the followings decide which radio has longer talking distance than the other one :

a, The one has the higher transmit power

b,The one with longer antenna

c,The one with more battery

d, the one match its antenna

The matching degree of the antenna: For example, the standing wave ratio of the antenna at the center frequency is relatively low, or the gain of the antenna is high in a certain frequency range, then the matching degree is good.
e: Environment:

-dense crowds or blocks of buildings will affect the transmission distance.

-Squelch level, if the level is lower, the call distance will be longer

-The terrain is high or low, the higher the location, the longer the calling  distance

-Signal interference, the less the signal interference in the environment, the longer the transmission distance
