RT84 is dual band DMR radio with DCDM function, which is Dual Capacity Direct Mode. It’s a featue which allows two slots operation on simplex. As we all know, normally slot doesn’t work on direct mode, but open DCDM function, slot will work. Now we study Retevis RT84 DCDM function.
What’s the advantage for DCDM?
DCDM function enhanced the frequency utility ratio, Normally two different channels can’t use same frequency, but you active DCDM function, it can only need change slot on two different channels, this way the frequency utility ratio greatly enhanced

How to achieve Retevis RT84 DCDM function?
Taking HD1 and RT84 to test this function
1.When turn off the DCDM function
For example:
HD1: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 1
RT84: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 2
RT84 can talk with HD1 each other, the time slot doesn’t work
2.When turn on the DCDM function
For example:
HD1: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 1
RT84: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 2
RT84 doesn’t talk with HD1 each other, the time slot will work, if you change the slot time 2 on HD1, RT84 keep same set
HD1: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 2
RT84: TX=RX=462.23500 cc:1, contacts: lee, the time slot: 2
RT84 can talk with HD1 each other, it also indicates the slot time will work, only same slot, they can communicate each other
