How to program a Retevis walkie talkie

When you receive the walkie-talkie, you can use it directly, because the walkie-talkie has set the default frequency

If you want to change other settings, you need to modify it through programming software, and you need to buy a programming cable. Let’s take RT29 handheld radio programming as an example.

The programming Retevis RT29 handheld radio steps are:

1. System Requirements
Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows10
Hard Disk Space: At least 50MB of available.
The minimum memory: 64M

2.Install the USB driver and programming software
You can open the website, enter your radio model, and click the support, you will find the corresponding software: https://www.retevis.com, and then download and install them

3. The programming software operating process
A. Connect the radio to the computer with a programming cable, make sure the radio is power on
B. Click the software settings, open communication port, and choose the correct port corresponding with your PC. Otherwise, the radio will fail connecting with PC
C. Click Program-Read data From Radio, to upload frequencies from radio to software. The process will take a few seconds. Then you will find all channel settings show up.
D. This process needs waitting for a while, after the completion of reading the progress bar shows the radio channels and frequencies that have been read into the current software
E. Modify the radio channel and frequency data, and other functional parameter data
F. Remember to write the data into the walkie talkie after modfication
G. If multiple radio needs the same frequency, frequency steps can be repeated to write

Related problem solving:

If the walkie-talkie prompts to check the connection or cannot read or write frequency, do the following exclusions first
1. When reading and writing frequency, whether the walkie-talkie is correctly connected to USB and is in the power-on state
2. What system is the computer? Currently the software only supports windows system
3. Whether the driver is installed correctly, open the device manager, whether the port is displayed normally there

4. Whether to select the correct port and the correct frequency writing software when reading and writing frequency.
5. Check the writing frequency cable, the walkie-talkie and the computer port, try to unplug and plug again, or replace other USB ports
6. Some computers have a lower version, and the C drive does not support downloading software. You need to manually add a folder on the desktop, and then download the software to this folder.
7. If it still doesn’t work, try another programming cable

The problem that the installation software cannot be installed:
1. Is your computer system Windows? Currently our software supports windows system,
2. Uninstall and reinstall and try again.
3. Try another computer
4. Some computers have a lower version, and the C drive does not support downloading software. You need to manually add a folder on the desktop, and then download the software to this folder.
5. Is the computer’s antivirus software blocking the software?
