Send and receive GPS signal of HD1

Hello everyone, I received a message on HD1’s GPS signal from a new radio amateur who just purchased an HD1 with GPS.

His message describes that he cannot use the HD1 GPS function to send his real-time location to the other radio, the GPS function has been opened, and the icon always displayed with a red forbidden icon.

So today we are going to talk about how to use the GPS function of HD1.

Setting

I use two HD1 radios, radio A and radio B.

HD1 GPS radio uses satellites to pinpoint locations, set them below.

Radio A: frequency:452.36000, time slot: 1, color code: 1, radio ID: 4606001, contact: private call 3366399,

Radio B: frequency:452.36000, time slot: 1, color code: 1, radio ID: 3366399, contact: private call 4606001.

Make sure they two can connect, and had better operate it in an open place, or stands on the side of the balcony or window.

Open the GPS function, you can open on the computer software or modify manually on the radio.

You can also set the GPS timing report time, timing to send location information to each other automatically. As shown below.

RxGPSinfo–Turn on, TxGPSInfo–Turn on.

Set two radio open the GPS receiving and sending

Set A and B can receive and send the GPS signal, and set the timing report time is 30 seconds, and then wait for the GPS signal update.

When the signal is located, the two can send the real-time location message each other every 30 seconds.

Push the A’s PTT, B will receive the call and the screen will display the A’s real-time location after the call.

Push the B’s PTT, A also will receive the call and B’s real-time location.

To know your own real-time location, check local GPS, it will display your own GPS information.

When the GPS receiving function is turned off

A keeps same, turn off the receiving function of radio B, A continues to send the location signal every 30 seconds.

But A cannot receive the signal. Push B’s PTT, A can receive the GPS signal of B every 30 seconds.

When the GPS sending function is turned off

A keeps same, turn off the sending function of radio B, and turn on the receiving function of radio B, B will receive automatically A’s real-time location signal every 30 seconds.

But A cannot send GPS location message because the sending option is not opened.

When the GPS function is turned off

A keeps same, turn off the GPS receiving and sending function of B, radio B will not receive and send its real-time location message and it will not update its GPS location.

The screen of B does not display the GPS icon also.

conclusion

Make sure the radio can send the GPS location signal, the two radio must connect first, same frequency, same color code, same time slot, and set the private or group call.

And then you should open the radio’s GPS function and don’t forget to check the GPS receive and send options.

If the timing report time is set or not is enabled, real-time location message will be sent automatically every time you set.
