Many people ask me that how to setup the cross band repeater function of RT23. I will give you more details about how to setup and make UHF radio
communicate with VHF in this blog. it has two method,by software or radio.
At first, we need know what frequency we want to setup.
For example,When RT23 work as a Repeater: RX:162.2375MHz, TX:426.2375, CTCSS:141.3
Find another two radios A and B. A frequency:RX=TX=162.2375MHz CTCSS:141.3. Bfrequency:RX=TX=426.2375, CTCSS:141.3.
1.Setup by programming software.
Using a programming cable connect the RT23 and PC. Setup the informations as the picture below and writing to the radio. Then enter into radio menu,go to 6(RELAY),select “ON”.
Cross band repeater function is ok. Have a try, you can find A and B can communicate through RT23 repeater.
2.Setup by Radio
1.Turn on the radio,imput frequency 162.2375MHz.
2.Enter into menu 6(RELAY),select “ON”.
3.Enter into menu 20(OFFSET),write “264.000”(TX-RX=426.2375-162.2375=264) menu 19(S-D), we select “+”.
4.Enter into menu 34(RPT-MOD),select “DOUBLE”.
Have a try, you can find A and B can communicate through RT23 repeater.
After we learn how to setup the cross band repeater. Now i will introduce more details about the this function of RT23.
The number 6(RELAY),It is cross band repeater switch. We select “ON”. After it we can open menu 34(RPT-MOD). It represents the repeater direction,single or double. “SINGLE” relay mode is single direction,means A frequency receiving while B frequency transmitting. “DOUBLE” is dual direction,means A frequency receiving while B frequency transmitting. Also B frequency receiving while A frequency transmitting.
You can say the above picture. When i select the “SINGLE”, The LED will show 162R2375,426T2375. It indicates the cross band repeater’s receiving and transmitting frequencies are specific. The receiving frequency is 162.2375Mhz, the transmitting frequency is 426.2375MHz. When i select “DOUBLE”, The LED will show 162*2375,426*2375. It indicates the cross band repeater’s receiving and transmitting frequencies are random.when the receiving frequency is 162.2375Mhz, the transmitting frequency is 426.2375MHz. When the receiving frequency is 426.2375Mhz,the transmitting frequency will become 162.2375Mhz. We can choose it as your working situation.Cross-band repeater function not only can increase the communication distance, If we select “DOUBLE”, it also can make UHF radio communicate with VHF Radio.
Now let’s see the 32(RPT-SPK)and 33(RPT-PTT) .If we select “ON”, RPT-SPK indicates after start repeater, radio speaker also start monitoring function. RPT-PTT indicates PTT transmitting is still available while under repeater mode. So RT23 provide more choices. We can control if this radio work as an ordinary radio when it works as a cross band repeater.
