If you are living in the US, you can use those 5 frequencies if you have a MURS radio. But if you don’t obey the rules of FCC, you will get fined. You may think of how the FCC will find you? Actually, there are certain private groups monitoring the frequencies and it is easy to understand.
Three tips when you choosing MURS radio
Battery Size – When buying a MURS radio, make sure the battery is large enough for you to operate a long time. It should last for your long trip and have enough electricity when we get back. Most MURS radios have batteries that range from 1000mAh to 2,500 mAh. Also, if you are worried about the battery out of power, you can buy a spare battery.
Waterproofing– If you will be taking your radio into the water, like catching a fishing boat in a lake then you need to get a waterproof radio. Some radios don’t have a waterproof function. But for Retevis RT47V, it has an IP67 waterproof function. This means that if you drop them into the water, then they are done for so be vigilant.
The Safety of Using MURS Radios – Lastly, MURS is an open frequency. It means that anyone can use it. If you want to transmit personal information, therefore, then this is not the way to do so as anyone with a radio can hear your messages. One way that you can work around this issue is to use a secret code that you can use.

All the functions would be great if they actually told you were to download the software to set them up and what cables you need to do it. I can’t find anything on the site about how to do it.
