What’s actually inside of RT97?

Retevis RT97 is a new analog repeater released in 2019.

It is a small and compact equipment, You can see it’s appearance is a metal case, so it is solid and dust-proof.

RT97 Is a customizable repeater, it can be customized within the range UHF: 400-470MHz or VHF: 136-174MHz.

So if you need any frequency within UHF: 400-470MHz or VHF: 136-174MHz, it will be ok.

Today we will see the actual inside in the metal case of RT97.

First of all, you need to tear down your RT97.

We need a tool looks like a six-sided cylindrical to turn the screws, then open the metal box.

After that, we can see on the left-hand side at the bottom of the case.

There is a power connector, which brings power into the power supply.

We can see a power cord connector on the outside of the box which is close to the power supply.

RT97 has Multi working power selection, it can work with the matching power adapter, and also can work under DC12V~24V power or car power.

Second,

We can see there is two black Connecting Wire in it, the one long cable in the middle which takes power from the power supply up to the small LCD display on the top panel.

The other one black cable at the end of the case is connecting the mainboard, the Metallic silver mainboard in the right of the case is the transceiver unit.

Thirdly,

We can see there is a duplexer which is in the middle of the metal case so we can get the high and low frequencies that this is tuned.

Along with the duplexer, we can see it is out to the PL plug on the side, the PL plug which carries the signal out from the duplexer to the antenna,

The antenna can be selected according to actual demand. We can see there are a couple of bolts on the side which bolt the transceiver unit to the side of the chassis.

Finally,

we can see there’s a red rubber gasket on the inside of the bottom lid.

And that’s going to create a watertight seal and the lids closed the metal ridge on the top lid which presses into that, it will keep it relatively safe from water.

These are almost all the internal structure of RT97 repeater, It really a good repeater, simple and portable for use.

  1. Why doesn’t the RT97 series have morse ID built in? That seems like a serious shortcoming…
